Alimetry, a medical device and digital healthcare company, has announced that it has received clearance from the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) for its flagship product, Gastric Alimetry. This approval allows for the commercialisation of Gastric Alimetry in Australia, marking a significant milestone in the company's mission to make advanced, non-invasive gastrointestinal diagnostics globally accessible.
Gastric Alimetry is a pioneering non-invasive wearable device that aids in the diagnosis of various gastric disorders, including functional dyspepsia, gastroparesis, and chronic nausea and vomiting. It harnesses stretchable electronics and cloud-based analytics to provide high-resolution recordings of myoelectrical patterns from the skin's surface. Patients simultaneously log their symptoms into the Gastric Alimetry App, and the system delivers clinical reports via the cloud. The test is performed in a clinical setting and helps clinicians pinpoint the root cause of common gastric disorders to support a personalised approach to management that targets the origin of the symptoms.
"Securing TGA approval is a pivotal moment for Alimetry in expanding care to the thousands of Australians suffering from chronic gastric symptoms," said Alimetry CEO and co-founder, Professor Greg O'Grady. "Existing tests for these conditions are often unreliable, inconclusive, and can be costly or invasive, leading to months or years of diagnostic uncertainty. Gastric Alimetry offers a game-changing, non-invasive solution that provides clarity for clinicians and enhances patient care. This approval reinforces our commitment to expanding our global footprint and solidifies Alimetry's position as a leader in non-invasive gastrointestinal diagnostics."
Gastric Alimetry is commercially available in the United States, the UK, and New Zealand.
